Today the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad is entering its 56th year of service to the community of the town of Schaghtioke, NY. The squad still operates with volunteer staff at night and on weekends. Due to the recent shortage of volunteers, the Schaghtioke Town Board has supplied supplemental funding for paid daytime staffing.
Starting in January 2012, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad was proud to announce the becoming of a paramedic agency. The new level of care will provide the highest level of pre-hospital care. The HVRS Board of Directors, as well as the membership, had worked very hard to move to this status. We will no longer need to depend on the out-lying commercial agencies for advanced life support care. We will have paramedics integrated 24/7 with both paid EMT's and volunteer staff.
Our call volume is consistently growing each year as we approach the 1,000th call mark. We have sent the increasing need to provide advanced life support to our own community and become an independent agency in northern Rensselaer County.
The Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad primarily covers the Town of Schaghticoke, Village of Valley Falls and Village of Schaghticoke. Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad also participates in the Renssealaer County Mutual Aid plan. The Mutual Aid plan was developed to provide seamless ambulance coverage to a Jurisdiction when a primary agency is not available Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad generally helps cover districts such as Johnsonville, Pittstown, Easton Greenwich, Stillwater, and Mechanicville.
Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad offers Advanced Life Support (ALS) to neighboring Basic Life Support (BLS) agencies
We are proud to provide this service to our community and we GREATLY APPRECIATE THE CONTINUED SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about where we are going.
Thank you again,
From everyone at the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad
